Southern California Junior Bach Festival

This is a competition sponsored by the SCJBF for students performing the music of J. S. Bach. The aim of SCJBF is to cultivate knowledge and understanding of Bach’s music, as well as to celebrate it. Through festivals, lectures, master classes, recitals and concerts, the SCJBF offers many opportunities for musical growth to the best of Southern California’s young instrumentalists and vocalists. The Torrance Branch will offer the branch keyboard festival, where the first tier of the competition determines the students who will advance to the second tier, the regional festival. The Torrance Branch offers opportunities for the non-competitive students as well, who will receive judges’ comments. The 3rd tier is the Complete Works Audition where gold, silver, and bronze medalists are announced. For winds and strings, the competition begins with the regional competition (where there is no non-competitive option) at a regional site and not at the Branches. Information for all instruments is found on the SCJBF website at scjbf.org.
