About
The Torrance Branch of the Music Teachers’ Association of California was formed on June 9, 2018, as the 63rd Branch of MTAC by seventeen Active Members in good standing.
Our predominant mission is to provide the MTAC State programs, including Certificate of Merit and VOCE, but with student enrollments of a manageable number. We also offer a variety of programs that will be attractive to students who enjoy the challenges of high-level competitions as well as those for whom winning competitions is not their primary objective in studying music. We therefore provide several valuable, but less stressful programs for students to comfortably share their accomplishment, inspiration, and hard work. With the formation of our new Torrance Branch, we anticipated and are realizing an enhancement of individual and collective experience within our musical community by the diversity of programs (State Programs / Branch Programs) we collaboratively provide.
Torrance Branch General Meetings are held in centrally located venues and are usually held on the first Tuesday of alternating months: September, November, January, March, and May. Following the business portion of each meeting, we provide an interesting, unique, and beneficial program. A special gathering each June is planned to commemorate our Branch’s foundation, to celebrate the conclusion of the year’s activities, and to install the Branch Board of Directors for the coming year.
Currently the Torrance Branch Board consists of five elected positions: President, Membership Secretary, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Director-at-large, and an appointed Parliamentarian serving as a Board Advisor.
We wholeheartedly welcome new members and contributory members. Please address your inquiries to our Membership Secretary at info@mtactorrance.org.
